Description
“How to Raise a Chatterbox” – A Parents’ Guide to Speech and Language Development.
The ability to communicate is a fundamental life skill for children because it directly impacts their ability to learn, to develop friendships and their future life chances. As a Speech and Language Therapist, I have seen the impact that lockdowns have had on children’s development and a recent ICAN report* confirms this. As parents and caregivers, you have the most important role in supporting development and are best placed to provide language rich environments. If you feel that your child’s speech and language skills are behind in certain areas or you simply want them to be the best they can be before they start school, then this book is for you!
Reviews:
Everyone with young children should have this book in their homes: “Love, love, love this book. Love how it is separated into ages, you can pick this book up and dip into it where and when you need to. My daughter is autistic and classed as non verbal, I use this book regularly dipping in when I need to. Sandy is an amazing author and comes up with some fabulous ideas and explanations, perfect book for those who can’t afford a speech and language therapist, also an amazing book even if your child doesn’t have any delays. I recommend this book to all my friends and have even bought it as a gift for a friend who’s child had speech delays, definitely a must have for parents/carers or even those who work with young children (Amy S)
Excellent resource for parents: This is a very well planned and executed book, a book that will benefit any parent who invests, digests and follows through on the contents! The practical activities are just lovely, the fact they support language development is a bonus! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to new and experienced parents, or as a gift to prospective parents. (Morag M)
